chapter 5

In the end, Yash carried Yolanda away.

He even claimed that her wickedness meant she didn't deserve anyone's kindness and suggested she reflect on why she had become this way.

Mia almost laughed out loud.

Seriously?

After six years of enduring and yielding, only to receive neglect from both father and son, why should she reflect?

She couldn't care less about Yash. Sean's earlier words made her realize that all the sacrifices she made during pregnancy and the exhausting five years of raising him had been for nothing!

In the end, her son helped the mistress point her out as his real mother.

If that was the case, she felt even more justified in leaving. The last shred of hesitation within her vanished.

That night, Mia locked her door tightly.

No matter how Sean knocked outside, she remained silent.

The next day, as soon as she opened the door, she saw Sean standing there, his little eyes red and filled with tears, looking pitiful enough to soften any mother's heart.

"Mom, please don't be mad! I didn't mean it last night. Ms. Meyer's leg isn't healed yet, and if Dad finds out she wronged you, he'll definitely kick her out."

He added, as if fearing her displeasure, "I promise I'll talk to Ms. Meyer and tell her not to do that again. I can even make her apologize to you, but please don't tell Dad."

He could tell that Ms. Meyer had a good relationship with his dad.

And he liked Ms. Meyer a lot.

He really didn't want to see Ms. Meyer and Dad argue.

Mia looked at him, and after a night of reflection, she had calmed down.

Since she couldn't keep him, it was better to let go.

She didn't blame Sean. Instead, she calmly said, "You're growing up. Do you know where your things are?"

Sean looked up at her, bewildered.

Mia took him to his room.

"These are your notebooks. The basic werewolf elite training courses aren't too demanding, but your dad has high expectations, so you need to keep track of your assignments.

"And these are your clothes and daily necessities. The clothes are sorted by season. I chose the best items for you. If you run out of anything, remember to ask for more. Also..."

Mia went through everything he needed to pay attention to.

At first, Sean seemed confused, but as she continued, his panic grew.

Why was Mom telling him all this?

Wasn't it enough to have a mom to take care of his daily life, meals, and studies?

How could he remember all these things as a kid?

But Mia didn't care if he understood.

From the moment she brought him into the world and raised him, Mia believed she had given her all.

She had endured severe blood loss during childbirth, and every time he caught a cold, she would comfort him all night long. She had done all this without complaint, and even now, she had no grievances. But when it came to teaching him how to be a person, she felt powerless.

Since he admired Ms. Meyer so much, let Yolanda teach him instead.

From now on, Yolanda would be his mom.

After finishing her instructions, Mia left him alone in the room and changed her clothes before heading out.

When Yash and Yolanda returned, they found Sean sitting alone in the empty living room, which made him appear even more isolated. Yash frowned and asked, "Why are you alone? Where's your mom? Why isn't she here?"

Sean looked up, his tear-streaked face showing his distress.

"Dad, Mom doesn't want me anymore. She left me here and ran out!"

Yash quickly gathered the details from Sean.

His expression darkened, his handsome face clouded with anger.

"This is outrageous! Sean is just a child. He doesn't know how to take care of himself. Mia is making an example of him to humiliate us!"

Yolanda added softly, "Mia was indeed excessive this time, but it's not entirely her fault. If it weren't for me, she wouldn't have acted this way. Even Sean doesn't want to take care of her anymore. Maybe I should move out."

The more she said, the more Yash's anger flared.

He felt like Mia had turned into a different person these past few days, going from gentle and virtuous to unreasonable.

The more she acted this way, the less he would let her win.

He wanted to see how Mia would cope without friends or family in the Midnight Pack. Without him, where could she possibly go?

Forget about Mia. Charles said indifferently. Even if she manages to escape, we can always track her down through the mate bond!

Hearing Charles's words, Yash let out a long breath, his tension dissipating instantly.

"You don't need to move out. So you don't want to take care of the child? Fine, let's take a few days off from Sean and go on a trip. I want to see how she handles that."

He didn't believe that once she cooled down, she wouldn't come crying back to him.
