chapter 13

The atmosphere in the estate stayed heavy and oppressive all day long, and the werewolf doctors went in and out of the master bedroom over and over again.

It wasn't until the next day that the doctor finally let out a relieved breath.

He wiped the sweat from his forehead and said quietly to Beta David, who was standing nearby, "Alpha's wounds are bandaged up now. But since the mate bond was broken against his will, he's suffering from severe backlash. His healing abilities are going to be weaker for a while, and his emotions will be even more unstable than usual."

Beta David felt a knot form in his stomach, but he nodded anyway.

When he walked into the room, Silas was propped up against the headboard looking pale. His chest was wrapped in bloodstained gauze, and the smell of medicinal herbs hung in the air.

But even though Silas had hurt himself this badly, he didn't seem to care. He was flipping through surveillance photos on his phone one by one—photos that Beta David had sent him. His eyes locked onto one particular image of Daisy wrapped tightly in another man's arms, and he stared at it without saying a word. His wolf eyes were completely bloodshot.

Beta David's nerves were on edge, and sure enough, a second later, he heard a loud crash.

Silas had hurled his phone across the room, and the glass in the master bedroom shattered into pieces. The air went completely silent, and Beta David didn't even dare to breathe.

Silas's jaw was clenched tight, and veins bulged on his forehead. The emotions he'd been holding back suddenly broke through completely, and he roared, "Where is she? Have you found her yet?"

The alpha's overwhelming presence made Beta David's heart race with fear, and he stammered, "A-alpha, we... we haven't found her yet.

"But we did find out something. Ms. Rivers and that man used fake IDs to leave the country. Their flight is headed to a small town in the Supernatural Neutral Zone.

"Ms. Rivers should be on the plane right now, but we're not sure if she'll transfer to another flight."

Silas kept his face tight and stayed silent.

Beta David quickly corrected himself. "I'll send werewolf guards into the Supernatural Neutral Zone right away. The moment they spot Ms. Rivers, they'll bring her back."

Silas's eyes were filled with a violent edge, and his expression stayed dark and threatening. After thinking for a moment, his voice came out slightly hoarse. "When you find her, don't make any sudden moves. Have someone watch her from a distance, and once you've confirmed her location, come tell me."

He was worried that if Daisy got scared, it might hurt the baby she was carrying.

The baby had to be safe. That was non-negotiable.

He could tolerate everything else for now, but when it came to the baby, he wouldn't allow anything to go wrong. Not a single thing.

Beta David left quickly, and the study fell quiet again.

Arvil's call came through, and for a moment, Silas's thoughts felt heavy. "What is it, Arvil?"

His voice was really hoarse right now, and anyone could hear that something was wrong.

"Silas, what happened to you?" Arvil asked. When he didn't answer, her voice turned gentle. "I have to go in for a checkup now. Can you come with me?"

"Arvil, I can't right now."

After Silas responded, he hung up the phone without a second thought.

His mind was a complete mess right now, and the only thing he wanted to do was see Daisy immediately.

He spent the entire day sitting in his bedroom, watching the airport security footage of Daisy leaving over and over again.

Every time he saw her willingly hug that other man and smile at him with genuine happiness, the jealousy nearly drove him insane.

Blood kept seeping from the wound on his chest where wolf claws had torn into him, and the bandages turned darker and more crimson with each passing hour.

But he seemed completely oblivious to the pain. Only one thought kept circling through his head.

Daisy could only be his. And she could only stay by his side.

That evening, his beta David came back with news about Daisy.

"Alpha, we found her. Ms. Rivers landed in a small town in the Supernatural Neutral Zone."

David paused when he saw the dangerous look flash through Silas's eyes. He hesitated for a moment before slowly adding, "We can also confirm that Ms. Rivers is currently living with the man she left with."

Silas clenched his fists, and his voice came out low and rough. "Book a flight to the Supernatural Neutral Zone. Right now."

Even if it put his life at risk, he had to bring her back himself.
